Roll Design / Elka suspension Sweep ATV Podium in the Dakar Rally!

Fallbrook CA 1/18/2012 – Fallbrook, CA – The Dakar Rally is known as being one of the most difficult, and dangerous races in the world. The event spans roughly two weeks, and for 2012 covered approximately 9000 kilometers (nearly 5,600 miles) across Argentina, Chile and Peru!

Following an event like Dakar is made much easier these days with mobile apps and internet available everywhere you turn. Watching Tomas Maffei hold in the lead during the early stages with the Patronelli brothers in pursuit and closing the gap and overtaking throughout the stages makes for an exciting event, even when so remote from the action. Last years winner, Alejandro Patronelli took home the top honors again this year, with his brother (2010 Dakar winner) Marcos coming in second. Maffei received a 20 minute penalty but even without, would not be enough to take a step up on the podium and ended the rally with a very impressive 3rd.

Only the strong survive and the Roll Design / Elka suspension combination continues to prove that it is worthy of the fastest racers, harshest weather and toughest terrain on the planet.

Congratulations to the entire 2012 Dakar Quad Podium!

#1 - 250 - Alejandro Patronelli

#2 - 252 - Marcos Patronelli

#3 - 272 - Tomas Maffei

Roll Design / Elka currently holding top 3 positions in 2012 Dakar Rally!

After stage 6 in the running of the 2012 Dakar Rally, #257 Tommy Maffei leads the previous 2 year champions #250 Alejandro and #252 Marcos Patronelli. All three riders are equipped with Roll Design control arms and Elka shocks and with just under 18 hours of ride time at this point, there are only 2 minutes separating the top 3 ATVs.

Dakar is the toughest rally race in the world, and anything can happen with 8 stages remaining, but they are kicking-ass so far and we wish them the best of luck in all the remaining stages!

If you are mobile - download the Dakar rally app to keep tabs on your favorite racers with up-to-date information, photos and videos. It is one of the most comprehensive apps I have ever seen, and would love to see something like it for other off-road races like the Baja 1000.
